Friends help libraries.

Who We Are

The Friends of Hewitt Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization dedicated to strengthening and promoting Hewitt Public Library and everything it offers our community. We fund programs, host events, support the library's collections, and advocate for its future — because we believe libraries are among the most important institutions a community can have.

Our members are teachers, parents, retirees, business owners, and lifelong learners united by one thing: a love of this library and the community it serves. When you join the Friends, you're not just supporting a building — you're investing in every person in Hewitt who walks through its doors.

What We Do

The Friends of Hewitt Public Library shows up for this library the way it shows up for our community — with resources, enthusiasm, and a genuine commitment to making it better for everyone who walks through its doors.

  • Every dollar the Friends raises goes directly back to the library. Through membership dues, our annual book sale, quarterly events, and business sponsorships, we fund programs and services that wouldn't exist without community support. When the library needs something beyond what the city budget can provide, the Friends is there.

  • We bring people together around the library. Every month, we host casual social events where members can connect, explore what's new at HPL, and enjoy being part of something. Four times a year, we bring featured authors and community speakers to Hewitt for our quarterly signature series — open to the public and free for our Champion-level members, who also receive a copy of the featured book.

  • We work hand-in-hand with the Library Director and HPL staff to make sure our energy and resources go where they'll have the greatest impact. The Friends doesn't run the library — we support the people who do.
